Call for book chapters -- Turkish Sign Language in Turkish

posted Aug 19, 2013, 6:10 AM by Engin Arik   [ updated Aug 19, 2013, 6:12 AM ]
I am compiling a book containing previous and current studies on Turkish Sign Language (TİD) in Turkish

This book in Turkish might contain studies on (TİD) from
  • applied/theoretical/educational linguistics,
  • psychology,
  • computer science,
  • education,
  • history,
  • sociology,
  • second language studies
  • deaf studies
  • and so on, as long as they are about TID.
They can be mostly --up-to-date--
  • overview articles
  • introductory chapters,
  • original research articles,
  • previously published work in Turkish (if permission granted)
  • Turkish translation of a previously published work (if permission granted)
  • and perhaps opinion, commentary, letter.
If the authors have the rights to reprint their previously published articles, they can do so --with an updated version-- in this future book in Turkish. But, again, there will be at least an internal review process; therefore, submission will not guarantee publication.

If you are an author of an article in Current Directions in Turkish Sign Language Research (http://www.c-s-p.org/Flyers/Current-Directions-in-Turkish-Sign-Language-Research1-4438-4955-3.htm), we have copyright, so you can translate it into Turkish and submit it to this new book.

Please adhere to already established terminology in your field of speciality in Turkish. There are some terms such as sesbilgisi, sesbilim, sesletim, söz, sözdizimkonuşma, seslem etc., in Turkish linguistics might not suitable to TID research. We might have better terms in the near future. You are also invited to contribute to the following website:

Please consult the TİD bibliography for references. Please also inform me about your works that are not included in the TID bibliography. I will update it regularly:

I think the book will be a great contribution to TID studies in Turkish. I will find a major publisher for this book.

December 1, 2013 is the deadline for your contribution. Double space, Times New Roman, 12 points, between 4000-8000 words including references, APA format. All submitted manuscripts will undergo internal and external review processes.

Please feel free to distribute this message to any interested researchers.
